Program Volunteers

Caring Hearts Adult Day Program – PTSCC runs a 4-hour daily adult day program for older adults who are mild to moderately confused, suffering from short-term memory loss, or have some other impairment. Our program promotes activities that enhance the older adult’s sense of self-worth, and stimulates their minds and bodies. A staff member runs the group, with the help of volunteers.

Computer Instructors and Coaches – PTSCC’s SeniorNet Learning Center has openings for qualified instructors and coaches.

Escort Transportation Drivers – taking people to doctor’s and hospital appointments, waiting for them, and returning them home.

Friendly Visitors – Some older adults are alone and lonely. By stopping in regularly to visit, you brighten their lives, and your own.

Phone-a-Friend – If you are not able to get out of the house for any reason (e.g. young mothers with small children, persons with limited mobility, non-drivers), you can still add a measure of joy to an older adult’s life by committing to call them once or twice a week to visit by phone.

Shopping Assistance – Help a homebound older adult by shopping for needed items.

Yard Work/Home Repair – Some older adults are no longer able to do the yard work or minor repairs around their homes, and cannot afford to pay to have it done. If you belong to a group that would like to make a difference in the life of an older adult, volunteer to do a yard work project or home repair. Projects are usually one-day.
